THE STORY
Rooted in one city. Formed by three.
Istanbul taught him to live between worlds. City University of London widened the frame. Berkeley sharpened the questions.
A graduate of Notre Dame de Sion French High School, Yavuz studied law with a computer-engineering minor in Istanbul, earned an LL.M. in International Business Law from City, University of London, and completed a second LL.M. at UC Berkeley School of Law. His current executive education at Harvard Law School extends that foundation into international finance, regulation and transactions.
He wrote his first book as a student. His work on digital law was later cited in academic research, while his writing expanded into philosophy and human motivation. That mix—law and technology, analysis and imagination—continues to shape his public work.
A FAMILY OF SERVICE
Medicine, law, academia and public life.
Public engagement began at home. Yavuz’s father is a surgeon and academic; his sister is a physician engaged in academia; and his mother formerly practiced law in Istanbul, building her career through direct engagement with individuals and public life. Their example shaped a family tradition of professional responsibility, education and service to people.
